Complete the NOVA Award Uncovering the Past online with STEM Teacher Thomas.  Learn about how fossils are formed, discovered and studied, what fossils tell us about live and what careers you can do if you are interested in fossils. 

Before the event, you will need to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfIZQ5AK93E&list=PLv7MWTL-Arz4dwTDh4vzfLrz9LO1llBbw and be prepared to ask Thomas two questions.

You will need the following supplies to 

  • 1 or 2 rocks from outside

  • 1 nail or push pin to carve with

  • Large clear glass or vase

  • Sand or dirt to fill your glass

  • 4 objects/items that show an archaeologist who you are

Zoom link is included in your receipt.  Please include your youths name or your last name in the zoom name so that we know who you are and call your youth by the correct name.  How to change your name can be found at https://teaching.nmc.edu/knowledgebase/changing-your-name-in-a-zoom-meeting/.  For youth security, we will remove participants we can not match zoom meeting participants to a registered participants.
