National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

NYLT is a six day, five night course that gives Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts and Venturers methods, skills and experiences to become better leaders in their unit. The course centers around the concepts of what a leader must be, what he/she must know, and what he/she must do – with a clear focus on how to accomplish all this. NYLT courses are limited to 48 participants.

Participants must hold or intend to hold a unit leadership position to be eligible for the course, and satisfy the following requirements:

  • If a Boy Scout/Varsity Scout, be at least 13 years old and First Class rank by the first day of the course
  • If a Venturer (male or female), be at least 14 years old and registered in a Venturing Crew or Sea Scout Ship
  • Not be 18 years old before the last day of the course if a Boy Scout or Varsity Scout or 21 years old if a Venturer
  • Once Registered, the Scout's Unit Leader will need to email a recommendation letter to the Course Director.
  • Participants will need to attend a brief Orientation on Sunday afternoon, December 2nd, 2018, 2:00-4:00PM at the Fickett Center, located at 12500 North IH 35, Austin, Texas 78753.  Any registrants after December 2nd will receive the necessary information via email.

Each participant must attend the course in its entirety and may not arrive late or leave early. If the participant is asked to leave camp early, no refund will be granted.

You will be asked to create an account to register, then add a Scout participant to complete their profile information if the account holder is an adult.

Once Registered, the Scout's Unit Leader will need to email a recommendation letter to the Course Director.

The Course will be held at Boy Scout Camp Green Dickson, near Shiner, TX.
