Age Requirement: 21 and older to be a Certified Pistol Instructor.

Cost: $80.00

Description: This course is for training and certification of NRA Pistol Instructors.  This is a two phase training and participants must attend both phases.  This course is limited to scouters who are already NRA instructors or took the Basic Instructor Training on July 20.  

In addition to the course fee of $80.00, upon completion of the course, participants will need to register with the NRA to become certified.  There will be a $30 - $50 NRA certification fee depending on whether you are a NRA member or not.

Course Size: This course is open to the first 20 who register. 


Phase 1: NRA Basic Pistol Course

Date and Times:  Saturday, August 10 – 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Fickett Center


Phase 2: NRA Pistol Instructor Course.  Participants must already be NRA instructors, have experience shooting pistols and completed Phase 1.

Date and Times: Saturday, August 17  8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Lindsay Lodge and the rifle range, Lost Pines

Locations:  Phase 1 training will be at the Fickett Center.  Phase 2 will be at Lost Pines Scout Reservation.

What's Included: The course includes the Pistol Handbook and student manual  Lunch will be provided on Saturday, August 17.

What to Bring: For phase 2, if you own a .22 pistol, you can bring it, two boxes of ammunition and a cleaning kit. If you don't have a .22 pistol, we will have some council firearms available.
